Support bilingualism and cultural understanding
Support our children to be truly bilingual and bicultural. Understanding other languages and cultures sets our children off to be both innovative and open-minded: Traits we need in future leaders.
Our school is a non-profit organization, with over 50 families with around 100 children who meet once a week. One or both parents are Swedish and all classes are taught in Swedish. The purpose is to promote students ability to speak and read Swedish, and strengthen the students' understanding of their heritage and culture. Understanding multiple languages and cultures, students capture new concepts, and their ability to reflect and understand the surrounding world grows.
Promoting literacy, we also provide an extensive library of Swedish books for children of all ages.

At Swedish School of San Diego we support the education of the Swedish language as well as the Swedish traditions. We want everyone in San Diego county with a connection to Sweden to have the possibility of connecting to their roots, with no restrictions on current Swedish language level.
We are therefor launching our support membership. As a support member, you will be invited to our events, family BBQ, and Swedish Celebrations. Your household will also have access to all our online resources including language support for all levels (newborn to adults). The site is currently in Swedish but with the help of google translate it’s fairly easy to navigate. Best of all, you will be introduced to a 50-member strong family group of swedes that are proficient in Swedish and always happy to meet and play to foster our traditions and language.
