Support bilingualism and cultural understanding
Support our children to be truly bilingual and bicultural. Understanding other languages and cultures sets our children off to be both innovative and open-minded: Traits we need in future leaders.
Our school is a non-profit organization, with over 50 families with around 100 children who meet once a week. One or both parents are Swedish and all classes are taught in Swedish. The purpose is to promote students ability to speak and read Swedish, and strengthen the students' understanding of their heritage and culture. Understanding multiple languages and cultures, students capture new concepts, and their ability to reflect and understand the surrounding world grows.
Promoting literacy, we also provide an extensive library of Swedish books for children of all ages.

How we are funded
- Student tuition
- Swedish government grants (for children over 7 years)
- Grants and donations from private supporters, organizations, and businesses
- Small fundraising events
Ways to support Swedish School
- Cash donations and grants: Help us give our children a varied and memorable education. Examples of what we can do with donations: Buy Swedish books for our library, treat our students to traditional foods, buy supplies, arrange special events such as concerts and experiments.
- Tickets and goods for our Christmas raffle: This is our main fundraising event of the year.
- Swedish children's books: Books are so important, but also the most expensive and difficult material to purchase from the other side of the world.
Activities enabled by donations
- Invited the Swedish kids music duo Longkalsong to entertain the children
- Purchased for our members to use: Special clothing needed for the Lucia procession
- Updated our library with the newest and most popular chapter books for older kids
- Purchased IT systems for safe and efficient handling of finances and legal waivers
- Brought dala horses for the children to paint
- ...and much, much more!
